Disappointed that leagues 4,5 and 6 are ten teams. Only having 18 games is not great but it's good to see the growth.

How come Jaguars are allowed a name without a suburb name? Didn't think this was allowed???

Great to see amateur league expanding..Just shows you how much football is the sport of choice in WA. Just think of the revenue that football west will make out of this..Lets hope they actually do something for the future with the money..Dnt mean to get political or anything..

Then why is Kingsway Olympic allowed? Smile

I was not aware of such a rule, and I am sure UWA is big enough for a suburb but dont think it is, as well as BB united, International Calcia and Golden Lily.

Then again perhaprs it is a rule and after 1 team was told you have to have a suburb in your name, they aptly named themselves Suburbs Utd.

There is no rule, though FW can decide if they will accept a club's name or not. Same with the so called ethnic rule myth in the Saturday competition. There has never been a rule that forced clubs to change their ethnic name. One of the reasons why Floreat Athena still have their name. Bassendean Caledonian had kept theres. All others changed their name by choice.

There have only been 2 changes that I'm aware of. Due to a government recomendation clubs were forced to use a geographic name from 1978 onwards. That's when Azzurri changed to Perth Azzurri for instance.

Around the mid 1990's, the JSA forced clubs to drop their ethnic names. WAASSA attempted around the same time, but failed. That is why in the Sunday Leagues now you still see many ethnic names around.

Facilities wise a great decision but with the side coming quite close to promotion last year they have potentially limited themselves this year, with Kingsway already in div 2.

For the same reason probably would have made sense to put the new Eskimo Rocks team in div6 to give some breathing space between them and the newly promoted to div4 team but I suppose it was first in, best dressed, whatever that means.

Where did you find this info?

I wouldn't be surprised if Div 6 was actually harder than Div 5. New teams normally can be quite strong. Not sure Hamersley new team can be called "strong" more of a work in progress, "keen" though Cool

Would have to be the tightest Div 1 in years.
